Chapter 3: Diplomatic Baby Steps

Our first summer was a fruitful one for our diplomatic efforts.  It was in that summer we signed our first two major treaties.  Our two longest and most trusted allies in the game, Umbrella and the Mushroom Kingdom.  MK's advice has helped shape our diplomatic efforts significantly, and Umbrella's tech deals have enriched us significantly.  Together they have helped us tremendously.  Diplomatically they were also the path of least resistance for historical reasons.  Umbrella was made from the remnants of Genmay, who had been a long-time ally of the old GOONS.  MK was (and still is) headed by Archon, who was a friend from Lunar Wars, as well as harboring one of the most important people left from the old GOONS, babyjesus.

Our Treaty with Umbrella was negotiated quicker than I'd ever seen a treaty negotiated before.  We approached them for the treaty.  On our side, Lamuella did the lion's share of the negotiating, on their side, Roquentin and LJ Scott.   This paved the way for Umbrella to become our longest ally, and partner in crime.  In the war with NATO they helped us a great deal in the upper ranks, where we were not able to defend ourselves adequately.  Umbrella have been good friends to us.

Mushroom Kingdom
Our Treaty with MK was signed very quickly by MK standards (or so babyjesus says).  The actual negotiations took place on our forum, and it really was just a matter of posting the images you see in the treaty thread, and them signing off on it.  According to babyjesus, MK are "a mario themed alliance except with focuses on dicks and fascism and not on mario at all and the new hegemony".  MK has a very unique culture, strangely they were formed largely from the remnants of LUE and NAAC, and other AEGIS nations.  MK was started by old GOONS for the purpose of collecting these people as allies in the unjust war.  Their culture has grown and prospered as they have, and they are now viewed as the strongest political force and godliest military empire in CN.

These two treaties marked the start of our diplomatic efforts.  From them we have met more allies, new friends, and so on.  These treaties serve us well, even now.  Signing them was in many ways a proof, that we were legitimate, proof that we could gain and hold allies.

However, it was during this summer that activity in GOONS dropped to its lowest point on record.  Things did not look good, IRC was dwindling and we were somewhat of a mess structurally.  I took matters into my own hands and made one of the greatest appointments ever.  I made Biazt our first banking director.  A position modernly known as 'Dongmaster'.  Biazt has been an enormous help in the maintaining of the alliance.
