Chapter 8
The first half of 2011 has been a very important trying time for GOONS, however it has been a very rewarding one. In the early months of 2011, a war broke out. This war, commonly referred to as the "bye polar war" was started when NpO's regent Dajobo advised a friend, lennox, to go spy on certain alliances over others because they would be "more interesting". From there, Lennox turned on Dajobo, and assisted Impero and Xiphosis in providing evidence for the CB against NpO. The war was launched, with PB's balled fist landing squarely on NpO, and all of the friends and allies of PB lending a hand. (more detail on the war can be found
here.) All, except for the nations of Doomhouse. We were scheduled for something special.
It was said that Legion would ride to NpO's defense. DH was slated to be the counter. Regrettably we failed to consider the fact that Legion are an entirely worthless alliance of cowards. NPO kept them from defending NpO to protect their own interests. As the days drew on, eyes turned to NPO. The decision was made that NPO could not be allowed to escape the war unscathed, that having them empowered was too risky to our power base. A plan was concocted by DH to preemptively strike NPO. Victory was never in question, but it was still a costly fight, politically and militarily. Negotiations to end the war lasted months upon months, as the fuckers would just not pay us at first, and NPO would not respond to DH's demands to stop shielding their upper tier with peace mode. (funny story, they only kept the nations in peace mode because we were demanding they come out, dicks).
Eventually we broke their resistance and they became willing to compromise with us. We had to compromise down some, but we had started high, of course. And we walked away with a good deal, one which is is enriching us even now. Following the war, I actually have a newfound respect for NPO (Their government anyway), they now claim that this war did them a world of good, and I agree. Before the war they were propping up a pathetic inactive emperor, unable to make any decisions, rotting away. Now we have given them, by warring with them and making the rubber hit the road, a new government, an active government, and one which is indeed favorable to GOONS. Perhaps one day GOONS and NPO will find ourselves on the same side of a conflict. Such is possible, given our ODP, pursuant to the peace agreement. (more information on the war can be found

Politically, the face of CN changed once again, as more groups grew in power and prominence. XX, a body that we had known was coming for many, many months was finally formed. For a time it was hypothesized that PB and XX would come into conflict. While such is not entirely out of the question, it does not at time of writing seem probable. Eventually another bloc formed, one which had been whispered about in the highest echelons of governments. "Viking Bloc" as it was known in the rumors became Mjolnir. These bodies may have overshadowed PB's importance, but we are not powerless in the political currents. Whatever the future holds, we will be ready.
